A fairy garden is delightful and easy to create in a pot.  There is sure to be some magic afoot when you’re not looking!  The featured miniature garden was designed to showcase the owner's flower fairy collection, but you may prefer to leave the fairies to the imagination.

Find a container.  A basket, window box, or flowerpot will work nicely.  If the container is not waterproof or rust proof, line it with plastic.  Paint to fit your décor if desired.

Fill the pot with sterilized potting soil.  This will create a base for your plants and fairy garden accessories.

Choose terrarium size plants for your miniature garden.  Small trees, vines, or succulents create an enchanting backdrop for your fairies.

Double pot the plants.  The extra pot will be buried in the soil and your potted plant will slip into it.  This allows you to rotate your plants for sunlight and remove or replace them as needed.

Try different arrangements of your plants and larger accessories to help decide on the final design of the miniature garden.

Once you are happy with the arrangement, bury the pots and firm the soil around them.

Add small furniture and accessories.  Imagine what a fairy might need to tend their miniature garden.  Small wheel borrows, shovels, birdhouses, and benches add delightful whimsy to the garden.

Place a bit of bark under the legs of the accessories to prevent them from sinking into the soil.

Create a pond using a ceramic or plastic saucer.  Fill with chipped glass for a fun water look. Chipped glass can be purchased at garden and craft centers.

Include small rocks and bits of bark to add to the realism.  Moss can be grown if you keep it moist.

Add fairies if desired. The featured fairies came with stakes to allow them to stand.  Place a small stone or bit of bark under the feet if they sink down into the soil.

Enjoy your fairy garden.  Let the revelry begin!
