30 pound picture hangers
picture hanger
hang one side at a time
Shadow box curio cabinets display your treasured tiny objects and collectibles and protect them from babies, pets or bumps. The best height for a shadow box is at eye level with the top about 6 feet off the ground. Follow the directions for large framed pictures as well, two hangers make it easy to level a large or heavy object.
Locate the hangers on the back of the shadow box. Use a ruler or yard stick to find the distance between the hangers.
Choose the location on your wall. Make a small mark with a pencil for either the right or left hanger. Pencil marks are easily erased if needed at a later time.
Use a level and ruler and make a mark for the opposite hanger. Measuring from the ceiling or floor gives inaccurate results as the wall is never perfectly square.
Use picture hangers for gypsum board walls (drywall). The hangers are sized for the amount of weight they can support. Two 30 pound picture hangers will support a maximum of 60 pounds, more than enough for the featured shadow box. Picture hangers are widely available in any store that has a hardware department.
Insert the nail into the hold and press the hanger against the wall with the bottom of the picture hanger on your mark. Gently tap with a hammer until the nail is seated in the hole. The hanger swings side to side and forgives tiny measuring errors.
Flip up the shadow box hangers and place one side at a time onto the picture hangers. Your shadow box curio cabinet is level and ready to fill with your treasures.
