kitchen remodelĀ

This 1961 kitchen is ready for a remodel. The mahogany faced cabinets were custom built onto the wall and every drawer and door squeaks. The drywall beneath the sink is rotted due to a broken seam on the counter-top behind the sink. One of the main goals is adding more room by getting rid of the four blind corner cabinets and the soffit.

Notice the cut out from the laminate covered wood counter top for adding a dishwasher. The remodeled kitchen will move it next to the sink.

New cabinets including an electric outlet will replace the sideboard. Rechargers, telephones, homework and kitchen office supplies will move here. We had hoped for adding a pantry in an unused built-in grill, but we were limited by budget. Up next, choosing the cabinets.

I’m so impressed with how much you’re doing on your own good for you! It’s great to know more about kitchen storage ideas. We’re hoping to remodel ours soon, so this is great. I’ll be sure to add a open shelving to make a statement.
