Ingredients for baked apples
Baked apples fresh from the oven make a terrific dessert or a snack. Each baked apple has approximately 215 calories, 56 g. of carbohydrates, 6 g. fiber and 40% RDI of vitamin C.

Ingredients:
Apples
Canola oil
Dried fruit
Orange juice
Honey
Cinnamon

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Choose your favorite varieties of apples and wash them well. Cut the core out of the apples with a paring knife. Use a spoon to carve out the seeds. Be careful to leave the bottom of the apple intact. Prick around the top of the apple skin with a fork to prevent it from splitting.

Place the apples in an oiled muffin tin or a cake pan. If you use a muffin tin, large apples may drip outside the pan, however a muffin tin keeps the apples upright.

Put 1 tablespoon orange juice in the carved out center. Add cranberries, currents, chopped dates, raisins, or other dried fruit to fill the cavity. Pour 1 teaspoon honey over the fruit and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Bake in the oven for 30 minutes. Serve warm.
